Asian Diet, Nutrition and Fitness Helped Me Achieve a Healthy Body
Asian Diet, Nutrition and Fitness Helped Me Achieve a Healthy Body
Article by Kristina Dizon
“Health is wealth”, so goes the famous saying, but I am one of those many people who focused on the different type of wealth – money, by working extra hard. My devotion to my job to make a lot of money took a toll on my health, something that I learned recently when I was hospitalized due to a mild stroke. I thought at first my stroke was caused by my obesity but I was wrong, my doctor informed me that stress is also a contributing factor to my condition. I was advised to lose weight, as well as to take it slow with my career. It was a wake-up call for me – I suddenly found myself seeking desperate measures to get healthy again, mainly because of the realization that it’s possible for me to die young and leave my small children without a mom.
The drive to become financially stable was because of the fact that I grew up an orphan, without a family, money and material possessions. No one adopted me; I spent my childhood and adolescent years transferring from one foster home to another. When I was able to finally live on my own, I worked odd jobs to be able to save money to finance my college education. Ever since then I never stopped aiming higher. I dreamed of finishing college, getting a high paying job, being promoted as long as there’s a higher position to aim for – and I accomplished all of them. Rest for me is only during Sundays, to spend some time with my family, and even during my rest day you would see me always reaching for my laptop or cellphone to check work.
Besides not taking it easy with my work, I also admit to having an unhealthy lifestyle. My hectic schedule doesn’t permit me anymore to jog every morning or go to the gym to exercise. I love meat that’s why my lunch wouldn’t be without the presence of it. I eat steak 4 to 5 times a day. Another type of food that’s always part of my diet is fast foods. 2 or 3 hours after lunch, I would ask my secretary to pizzas or burgers and fries. On top of a bad diet is my smoking habit. When I mentioned all of this to my doctor, he said he’s surprised I didn’t have a major stroke instead of a mild one.
I was glad that I came across a very informative blog, Dina’s Asian Diet Nutrition and Fitness. It’s where I learned facts about the Asian diet, how it’s great for the body. I have always been a fan of Japanese and Chinese restaurants, but I didn’t know that by consuming healthy Asian recipes, the body can get the vitamins and nutrients it needs to function well. Best of all, it can help people stay away from deadly diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart and kidney ailments. Best of all, people can lose weight by having a properly designed Asian diet combined with Asian fitness and exercise. Just by applying the Asian Diet, Nutrition and Fitness to my life, I started to feel good and lose a little bit of weight. It helped me as well to recuperate fast from my minor stroke. On top of that, I am able to enjoy the delicious Asian dishes prepared by my mom for me everyday. I don’t even miss meat at all, because of tofu, which is the ingredient they replace for meat.
