The New Year is here. Like any people with a renewed spirit after the festive season you are most likely looking to lose weight and shape up. Finding diets that work, is difficult to say the least. Diets don’t need to be difficult. In fact the principles of every diet is actually the same; burn more calories than you consume. However, at times it seems a lot more difficult.

Here are 5 diet tips to help you stick to your favourite diets.

Diets tip 1: Drink Plenty of waterBefore you go on that eating binge, have a few glasses of water. Some times you can confuse thirst for hunger. A few glasses of water may just do the trick. If you don’t like water try a herbal tea instead.

Diets tip 2: Eat the foods you enjoyEveryone is glad when they hear me say this! The fact is that you can not have success with diets that you don’t enjoy. I like to think of the diet phase as the part of your new healthy eating program where you calorie deficit is around 500 calories per day. Once you lose weight it is above have a neutral calorie gap. Also enjoy you favourite treats once a week. Just make sure that you have portion control….don’t go overboard!Diets tip 3: Eat Protein with every mealProtein has high satiety levels. This means that it keeps you feeling full for longer. Protien also encourages muscle mass which burns fat. Healthy proteins include fish, lean red meats, beans, yogurt & cheese. Whey protein shakes with low fat milk is also good as a mid meal

Diets tip 4:Change large carb serving for saladHaving pasta and bread as a side adds an enormous amount of carbs and calories to you daily calorie intake. Swapping this for a healthy salad with calorie salad dressing is a great way to get a balanced diet and save on calories.

4. Diets tip 5:Have mid meals during the dayFeeling hungry can make you fail on weight loss diets. Eat six meals a day. Three main meals and three mid meals. Mid meals keeps your metabolism moving.
